Bishops are quite often made as a first character, mainly because of their ability to leech other players for mesos (or for no mesos). They get the exp-boosting skill Holy Symbol at 3rd job which gives 1,5x exp for the players in your party. They get the ultimate skill Genesis at 4th job, which hits 15 monsters. HS and Genesis will be your mostly used skills.
It's suggested to finish the short (it IS short) explanation and training session when you join the server (you will get 3 Super Megaphones and 500k mesos). After you're done with the tutorial, go to Henesys Hunting Ground and train till level 8. Now you can become a Magician, the 1st job (@cody will open the job advancement NPC). Now you are wondering why are you still using a sword and how do you put your AP (Ability Points) and SP (Skill Points). Don't worry, I'll tell you how to use your AP and SP the right way. After Maple Warrior, max Resurrection, You may revive your party members if they die at bosses!
And from now on, max them in the order you want.

Level 13x - Level 200: Bosses, Gallos, Skeles. Those will be your training places for the rest of your life as a bishop.
