[TUTORIAL] How to set up SoulMS - Updated as of 12/04/2010

When I press start > HackShield load > black screen > then got kicked out with errors

Added a "check these before you freak out" segment.

Hopefully the new information will help a few players, but I love how there will still be a dozen threads per day called; HELP I CANT START SOULMS!

I refuse to respond to those threads because this thread pretty much answers their questions.

wow it doesnt work at all for me...

Firewall came up so unblocked it from blocking SoulMS. Is that okay?

Used this guide for 7-8 days now and nothing works. I either get hackshield thing or this blank pop up

I love how half the threads are about the 0x30000 error, and almost everyone who replies thinks they're helping but they're not.

At least address the goddamned 0x30000 hackshield error, instead of ignoring all the threads about it thinking they're something else.

You don't need to drag the HSUpdate to your HSShield folder. I keep it in the main folder and it works just fine.

Ok, when i download the 3.5 Framework, after it says Disconnect from the Internet wtf do i do? do i like take out my Internet Plug?

dont worry your not the only one i got the same setup error with the framework thing i think im just gunna quit trying to get on this server nothing is working not even the v88 set up....i mean we kinda need that....

Hey guys i followed this guide and i found it to be very helpful, but I'm still having trouble. Whenever i try to start soul ms i just get a message telling me that the program has known compatibility issues. Could this be because i have windows 7 or is it because i have windows net framework 3.5.1? thanks in advance!

It's not because you have windows 7. that's for sure, because I know that alot of players can play with windows 7.
I dont think it could be net framework 3.5.1 either. the required version can be just that one AND higher.
I can't play this game myself. Because it says that the server is going trough a server check.
So I don't know what to do about your problem

Hey I need some help... When I download the NET framework, I get a 'Setup Error' on it. That's all it says... Can someone help please? Sad

okay - here's the problem: downloaded MSv88, run it and install at Map.wz ( 26 out of 29 Files installed ) it says:
An Error occurred during installation. Please try again.
Click Okay -> [ ERROR CODE = -40 ]
Installation failed.(11207,0)
redownloaded it allready, dont work either. can anyone help...? ;___;
